This new purple heart call is a one-of-a-kind call!  Due to my limited supply of purple heart (an imported hard wood), and the amount of time it requires to make these calls, I will only be able to get a limited number done before turkey season.  I will do my best to get everyone who wants one a call before season starts, so give me the chance to get you one of these calls.

This is a mixed hard wood call, the sides are maple!  Maple is one of the best sound making hard woods available.  The end caps, sides, bottom and paddle are all made of purple heart.  Purple heart is one of the hardest woods you can find and is often used by all call makers for paddles (look on the internet and in stores and you will see a lot of purple heart paddles).  However, purple heart, heart of the tree hardwood is not often used since it is the most purple looking of the colors, and the most expensive.

Due to just how hard this wood is, the maple has a very rich and distinctive sound, just like that mature hen that brings the toms running.

This combo of wood also creates a heavier call which is nice since it allows the paddle to do the work for you and fits snuggly in your hand just like the Double Spur Mature Hen does with the larger base ( nice when wearing gloves).

Due to feedback at one of the call contests I enter, I decided to upgrade the looks and sound of the DSMH.  The original call sounded great and took 2nd place in the contests I was in last year (all 3 times). 

The request was to add some "splash" to how it looks and a bit more physical weight.  So, I changed the sides a bit, changing the walnut for maple on the sound chamber, and then putting the walnut back on as the side stabilizer which serves adding a bit more weight, a bit of splash and deepens the sound about 1 note.  All of which upgrade the call making it even better.
